Reviews & Opinions

Peter:

At first, I was happy with the chewiness of the noodles. However, their lack of flavor, along with a below-average broth and very plain meat, made for a slightly below-average bowl of udon. The portions were fine, and the karashi was okay, if gomi-based. The ladies in the kitchen were friendly, and the environment was nice and comfortable. I wouldn't be surprised if I were to return, maybe to try to catch them on a better day, but I can't recommend this shop at this point. The noodles were different than most shops. They were chewy, which is always a good thing, but they became sticky and melty after a while. They fooled me at first, because I thought they were great. Soon, though, they lost their luster and became almost mushy.

Udon Chewiness: 6
Overall: 4 , friendly but not rewarding

I am very sorry to say this, but the fact is, I was very disappointed with the udon here. The noodle was heavy and thick, and soft and weak. It was so heavy and so soft that a couple strings of the noodle broke down to pieces before they entered my mouth.
In addition, the noodle got softer and softer as I ate. It soaked the broth and melted in it rather quickly. The clear broth became cloudy by the time I finish about a half of the bowl.

The broth was quite salty. Since I am not fond of salty broth, I was not pleased with it.
Portion was huge. Now I understand why there is a sign said, "SMALL PORTION POSSIBLE".
As a side dish, they offer a plate of Inari. It was reasonably priced and good. Takuan pickles on the side were sliced with nice thickness. There are "MANGA"(animation) books at the shop. If you like to read them and eat at the same time, you may like to go there.
