Peter:
Kobo was a little different than most udon shops. It's apparently an izakaya at night. They were quite busy on the Sunday morning we went, so we had to sit at the bar, which was unusual. The noodles and broth were quite good--the broth was especially tasty, the noodles were firm and sweet, just the way I like them, and were also smaller and thinner than most Yoshida Udon. However, the meat was terrible--dry, almost crusty, completely flavorless. The karashi didn't feel homemade--it seemed Vietnamese to me. There was no tanuki.
