Kurumaya Udon

Shop #29 on the Official Yoshida Udon Map

Kurumaya had a nice big parking lot. It also had the biggest menu of any udon shop we've been to, and one of the few that served drinks (including Coke).

Reviews & Opinions

Peter:

I found the udon noodles to be similar to Asahi's--while they were thin and fairly chewy, they became sticky and clumpy once it cooled a little, and became hard to eat, as you can see in the pictures. However, the broth was really good, and the niku and tempura were both tasty. The service was friendly, the menu was large, the karashi was spicy. All in all, I can safely recommend it, but you might avoid the tsuke udon.

Return visit:
Better than I remembered. A solid 6, if not a 7. I avoided the tsuke, and my nikuten was better as a result. Again, the meat and tempura were both tasty. The broth was a little salty, and the karashi was nothing special, but adequate. I'm changing the Udon Chewiness from a 3 to a 4, but leaving the Overall at 6 for now.
