Peter:
They've got a nice selection of food, in addition to the udon. The first time I was there, I had hiyashi tanuki--essentially the udon without broth--the udon was nice and chewy, and the karashi was excellent. This time, I had Niku Udon, since I wanted some meat. It was good, but not spectacular. The noodles were close to perfect, and the broth was quite tasty. On subsequent visits, I've had the hiyashi tanuki, which really is fabulous. It's a pretty plate of noodles surrounded by various veggies, sitting in a little puddle of sweet sauce. I often recommend Miyagawa as a comfortable place to try top-notch udon.

One of my fellow teachers put it best: "The
first time I had the hiyashi tanuki here, 20 years ago, I
cried it was so good." The cold noodles have the perfect
firmness, and a little of the karashi, wasabi and grated
daikon can bring tears to my eyes as well. The tanuki
topping is nice and crisp. Perfect with a veggie croquette
on the side.
The hot udons are delicious as well, including curry udon
and udon nabe hot pot. The best I've had so far: 10.

9/10 The food at Miyagawa is my personal favorite of the
places Peter has reviewed so far, although there are some other places
he hasn't reviewed yet that I like as well or better. The noodles are
nice and firm, with a good taste. They have some special offerings
such as curry and croquet which are a nice change of pace. This udon
place definately provides good eats!
