Peter:
Miyaki, centrally located and close to Fujikyu Highlands, was small and busy. Something very unusual struck me about Miyaki--the noodles were actually TOO chewy. They were a little TOO hard. It was difficult to grip them with my chopsticks. They were like, I don't know, licorice ropes almost. They were certainly tasty, and I do generally like my udon chewy and firm, but I now realize that there is a limit to how chewy and firm my udon should be. The hiyashi juice was good, not great, and the portion was a little on the small side (considering that I ordered an oomori--large). The karashi, though, was wonderful--hot and flaky, (maybe a little too red).
